The Geffrye, Museum of the Home, explores domestic interiors and gardens over the past 400 years from 1600 to the present day.
Enjoy a day stepping back through the centuries in the Geffrye's period living rooms and gardens. The Schools’ Programme offers a wide range of curriculum-related sessions for EYFS to Key Stage 5 covering history, art and design, literacy, geography and science.
Teaching in front of our period rooms, we use our extensive handling collection of original and replica artefacts to support hands-on, multi-sensory, object-based learning opportunities, incorporating touch, sound and smell to connect more meaningfully with the past, the museum’s collection and the themes of home.
All our schools' sessions are led by the museum's experienced facilitators and our small scale and direct approach make us very accessible for school groups of all types, ages and abilities, including students with special educational needs and disabilities.
We also support Arts Award.
