The Children’s Bookshow helps to build more literate communities and foster the joy of reading.
The Children’s Bookshow aims to delight and inspire children with great poems, beautiful illustrations and gripping storytelling, helping teachers provide their students with a rich and exciting experience of literature and create the readers and writers of tomorrow.
The Children’s Bookshow is a national tour of the best writers and illustrators of children’s literature to 15 arts venues throughout England. The writers that take part are chosen from a wide variety of countries and cultures to give young people the opportunity to experience the best children’s literature from around the world and the chance to work with inspiring, internationally acclaimed authors.
The theatre tour is backed up by a series of 60 free in-school workshops in which children are given an invaluable opportunity to work with a writer and develop their own creative skills, inspiring each child to see themselves as authors and illustrators in their own right. Each child participating in the performance and workshop receives their own copy of the writer’s book to take home.
